Radio DJ Nick Grimshaw’s Ibiza was left “upset” after a criminal gang raided the luxury Ibizan villa he was staying in with friends and family to celebrate his 40th birthday. The thieves targeted the villa in the middle of the night while Grimshaw, his 81-year-old mother Eileen, fiancé Meshach Henry, and other guests were asleep.

A source revealed that “there have been a spate of attacks in luxury villas across Ibiza this summer” and Grimshaw’s villa was simply on the target list due to it being known to host high-net-worth clients. The gang likely had no idea who Grimshaw was.Grimshaw has since deleted an Instagram post showing him sunbathing at the villa and has chosen not to publicly address the incident. Fortunately, no one was harmed and Grimshaw is safely back at his home in north London.

The former BBC Radio 1 host had rented the villa to celebrate his milestone birthday on the Spanish island. He hosted a variety of shows on Radio 1 for 14 years before leaving in 2021

How Thieves Gained Access to Nick Grimshaw’s Ibiza Villa

According to the reports, the thieves targeted Nick Grimshaw’s rented villa in Ibiza while he, his family and friends were sleeping inside. The property was broken into by a criminal gang known for burgling luxury apartments and villas in the area.
The villa was targeted because it was associated with housing the rich and famous, not because of who was staying there specifically. The gang likely had no idea Nick Grimshaw was the occupant.
It’s believed the gang targets properties by filling them with sedative gas and then enters wearing protective suits, but it’s unknown if this method was used on Grimshaw and his family.
The thieves gained access through the back door of the villa, which they were able to force open quietly without making much noise to avoid detection.  They spent time searching the house and even took a knife from the kitchen before heading upstairs.
The burglars used a large suitcase from the house to transport a small safe containing valuables, and a duvet cover to move a heavy floor-standing safe downstairs. They probably intended to conceal the stolen safes in their car in case they were stopped by police.
